Reflection

Experiences

This module was a development of the previous one. Some reflections and experiences from the previous session were successfully applied, while others were not. In the exercise part, I was not able to create something satisfactory and I'm not good at deciding the layout of a poster, so I need to observe more things around me on a daily basis (poster or graphic design). I enjoyed learning 8 typography systems. In Task 2, I was able to make something better with Mr.Vinod's feedback. However, it was a bit difficult to come up with a layout for the Instagram post but I enjoyed making a logo for my name. For task 3, I was able to make good use of my experience from task 2. It was hard to make all the uppercase and lowercase letters, but I was very happy to be able to type the letters in the font I created and was the most challenging task, but at the same time, I felt a sense of achievement.

Observations

I need to give meaning to my ideas and creations, "not just create them because I want to". When creating a logo for a name, I just sketched what I wanted to make, so I could not answer well when asked about the meaning or origin of my idea(sketch). I need to verbalize my own ideas and creations. This module gave me good insight. I also thought during the exercise part that I tend to create similar works. I need to soften my mind more, try new things and increase my idea bank.

Findings

Task 2 was especially difficult as much as it was fun. When I received the first feedback I was lost. I didn't have a clear concept in my mind, so there was no sense of unity in the product, and I didn't know what I wanted to convey through my work. Since it was my brand, I needed to justify my own ideas. After receiving feedback, I was able to organize my thoughts and redesign my work.

It was a great opportunity to see other students' work through feedback time. There were many different works and ideas, and I learned a lot. I would like to apply the ideas and thoughts of other students to my own work in the future, rather than just admiring them.
