We try to make a telegram sticker in this task 3B. I choose "Happy New
Year".
The image below is a reference example.

And Mr Vinod said, If you want to make such an expression, you need to sharpen it. In
Telegram, avoid the left. Right is okay. And this will be a telegram stamp, so I need to think of the shape as s stamp.

1. Set a margin. Create columns and rows.
2. Sketch your ideas down.
3. You may create lettering, modify existing letter or use existing type to
communicate your message.
4. Save as PNG (without background and with a 7pt white outline) and as a PDF,
upload the PNG to your portfolio and embed the PDF (by uploading it first to
your G-Drive) in your portfolio.
5. Screen grab your phone with the sticker sent.

Task 3B: Type design and Communication

Fig2.1: feedback |
There are my sketches. I received feedback from teacher in week11. This first sunrise idea is still good. But the Taylors logo should be moved around, not mixed with the alphabet. It would be better to include some elements around it, such as lines to show celebration.

Fig2.2: feedback 2 |
Using this as a reference, I thought two new ideas. The sun was made a bit bigger and I represented the sunrise of the new year. I added the sea as background. The below image is rough structure idea.
Fig2.3: image idea |
The letter type has also been changed. This letters look like they were drawn with a brush. I'm not sure, but I think you can feel the atmosphere of the New Year.

Fig2.4: own characters |
I referred to the image below. Features such as horizontal and vertical lines have been applied to the alphabet.

After drafting with the brush tool, I traced it with the pen tool. This work was a little difficult.

Fig2.7: process |
After that, I made a background. This is a telegram stamp, so the shape has been changed from trapezoid to circle. The blue color of the sea uses a gradation.

Fig2.10: First outcome (13.06.2022) |
After week12 class, I received a feedback. Mr Vinod said, I like the idea, it is fine to create a horizon.
But if you maintain the circle, it would be bad. Take it different shape instead of a circle.

Fig2.11: feedback |
Also, it doesn't seen to be fitting your word (typo) really well with your design. And add some lines around the word, like a celebration. And lines of around the sun, not need.

Fig2.12: how to make outline and zig-zag |
He taught how to make the zigzag line of the sun and how to enclose the letters.
I decided to make a stamp like a below image instead of circle. And I remove lines of around the sun. I expressed the sun using another way. Maintain the sun's horizon.

About characters, I changed the characters to be appropriate for own stamp. No.2 and No.3, I referred to the cursive style. I made 3 characters.

Finally, I choose No.2 and No.3.

After copy and paste, increase the width and connect them.
Since it's Happy New Year, the color is red. This is the color of my New Year's image.

Fig2.20: 4 design |
I added fireworks around characters to express New Year celebration.
Also, I expressed a three-dimensional effect. By doing this, I think it looks like a sticker.

Fig2.21: process |
I put the Taylors logo in the center of the fireworks.

So, I changed fireworks design and back ground color. Also, I added shadow behind characters. By putting a line in the letters, I was able to express a three-dimensional effect, which became like a stamp.

Feedback
Week11
General Feedback: This first sunrise idea is still good.
Specific Feedback: But the Taylors logo should be moved around, not mixed with the alphabet. It would be nice to include some elements around it, such as lines to show celebration.
Week12
I like the idea, it is fine to create a horizon. If you maintain the circle, it would be bad. take it different shape instead of a circle. It doesn't seen to be fitting your word (typo)really well with your design. And add some lines around the word, like a celebration. And lines around the sun, not need.
Week13
It's okay but there are many oranges, get close to vermilion, it would be better. Taylors logo is small and it doesn't stand out. Making a little bit thicker of happy new year characters. Add a flat shadow behind words and add highlights after making it thicker, it would be good.
Reflection
Experience
Task3A & 3B, I think it was the hardest task during this module. About taskA, I could think some typo designs but honestly, I wasn't satisfying my idea. However, I have come up with only the idea that is already likely. Thanks to the teacher's advice, I was able to complete it. It is important not to think too hard. I need flexible thinking. The final outcome of Task 3B this time has changed the most from the first idea sketch.
Observation
For my sticker, the outline shape that surrounds the character looked more attractive than just a circle or square shape. At first I circled it, but I'm glad I changed it.
Findings
It was a little difficult to make it so that you can immediately see what this stamp represents. However, it is not good to put a lot of graphic elements. So I used red with fireworks and sunrise to represent the New Year. It was also a little difficult to decide the most beautiful arrangement of the characters. Especially when using long alphabets like p and y. It would be strange if there was too much space, so I thought about some patterns.
Metaphorical thinking. In language, a metaphor is a subset of analogy, a figure of speech suggesting that something appears, sounds, or behaves like something else.
The typeface Dutch Doubles, with designs by thirty-seven Dutch type designers.

Letterforms can suggest objects and ideas beyond their function as symbols for spoken language. They possess visual qualities and
can be manipulated to suggest other objects, sounds, and images.
Every typeface is also a potential metaphor capable of suggesting meaning beyond the mere content of the words and text. Some typefaces march, others dance
